Regency Glass took delivery of our first Heat Soak Testing oven this week.

Enabling toughened glass to be tested for inclusions that may cause spontaneous breakage, this machine copies in-situ heat conditions, thereby causing potential breakages to happen in the factory. This reduces the risk of on-site breakages, that may cause danger to the public or be costly to replace.

Whilst this process is not a fail safe – on site breakages may still occur, the process massively reduces the risk on site.  Usually specified on large commercial glazing contracts such as curtain walling and high rise buildings, Heat Soak Testing (HST) is becoming more common across public sector buildings.
