Triple Glazed Units

As with double glazing, triple-glazed units can be configured in various ways depending on the required performance specification.

Available options include:

• Glass thickness variations
• Performance coatings for enhanced thermal efficiency and solar control
• Safety glass, including toughened and laminated options
• Warm edge spacer bar systems
• Patterned and decorative glass
• Gas-filled cavities, including argon gas for improved insulation

This flexibility allows triple-glazed units to be specified for energy-efficient homes, commercial buildings, and specialist glazing applications.

High-Performance Triple Glazing

For optimal thermal performance, triple-glazed units typically incorporate two panes of low-emissivity (Low-E) glass.

A common high-performance specification includes:

• 4mm clear glass
• 4mm Low-E glass
• 4mm Low-E glass

Glass manufacturers highly recommend that the middle pane be toughened to reduce the risk of the glass shattering under thermal stress. This helps to ensure long-term durability, reliability and safety.

Please note, Regency Glass will not produce standard TGU’s without toughening the middle pane.

Triple Glazing Sizes & Weight

Standard triple-glazed units are typically manufactured with an overall thickness ranging from 36mm to 44mm, depending on the specification and cavity configuration.

Due to the additional pane of glass and larger construction, triple-glazed units can weigh approximately 30kg per square metre, making correct handling and suitable frame compatibility important considerations during installation.
