Argon Storage Capacity Doubled
Argon gas is now a standard component of IGU (Insulating Glass Unit) production, replacing air in the cavity between the panes of glass. Argon is approximately twice as dense as air and this property improves insulation in IGUs, helping to reduce heat loss through glazing and save energy.
High volume glazing production, exceeding 3000 IGUs per day, requires continuous Argon supply to our production lines. Our new tank holds double the volume of our previous system and reduces the refilling frequency. We now refill monthly instead of weekly/fortnightly.
1m2 of glazing with a 20mm cavity contains 20 litres of volume. With a typical average size of 0.5m2 per glass unit, we use in excess of 30,0000 litres per day. Ensuring we have adequate stocks maintains production and fewer deliveries also helps mitigate costs as well as being good for the environment.
