More informationAll glass types supplied by Regency Glass can be toughened to enhance strength and safety.
The Toughening Process
Our toughening process is carried out in-house using state-of-the-art Glaston furnaces (up to 6m x 3m), ensuring full control over quality, consistency, and lead times.
All toughened glass is manufactured in accordance with BS EN 12150 and is clearly marked with the required certification, along with our unique identification number and company name, as required for all toughened glass in the UK.
Safety & Performance
Toughened glass is created through a process of controlled heating followed by rapid cooling. This introduces internal stresses that significantly increase the glass's strength, making it up to four times stronger than standard annealed glass.
In the unlikely event of breakage, toughened glass fractures into small, blunt fragments rather than sharp shards. This greatly reduces the risk of serious injury, making it a safe and reliable option for a wide range of applications.
