More informationA spacer bar is a critical component within insulated glass units (IGUs), used to separate the panes of glass and create the insulating cavity between them. This cavity plays a key role in improving thermal performance and energy efficiency in modern glazing.
Spacer bars also contain a desiccant material, which absorbs any moisture trapped within the sealed unit. Small perforations along the spacer bar allow the desiccant to effectively remove water vapour, helping to prevent internal condensation and maintain long-term clarity and performance.
Construction & Design
Spacer bars are manufactured into a frame that sits between the glass panes. The frame is slightly smaller than the glass unit, allowing the perimeter sealant to bond securely around the edges.
