The new machine will be used to wash and dry glass, which cannot complete the entire production process on our automated IGU production line. Whilst we can use the washing section of the production line if the unit is shaped - curved or straight-edged, the automated sealing gun cannot seal it.
Also, small units cannot travel down the line and be sealed. Here, the glass is removed after washing and manually gas-filled and sealed. This takes up production time for IGUs and is not an efficient use of our resources.
With the flatbed washer installed next to our hand-sealing area, we can efficiently wash the glass and assemble IGUs. The production line can then be fully utilised for sealed unit manufacturing, increasing our capacity and availability.
