All of the glass types we offer can be toughened. The toughening process is in-house using one of our 6M x 3M Glaston furnaces. All tempered glass is manufactured under strict control to BS EN 12150 and carries the CENSolution CMS Mark and our own identifying number and name. All toughened glass in the UK must have the relevant standard markings.
The rapid cooling of the glass stresses it, giving it four times the strength of the non-toughened equivalent. On breaking, the glass shatters into tiny, non-life-threatening pieces and is not likely to cause deep cuts. This is the same as side windows on cars.
