Waste glass, known as cullet, is recycled into new glass from our production process. This is collected in unique bags and reloaded onto delivery trucks to return to Goole's float glass production line.
This helps reduce carbon emissions from the process, as glass melts faster than the raw materials and helps speed up this process. Recycling also prevents this valuable commodity from going into landfills, contributing significantly to our environmental sustainability. Currently, new glass sheets are approximately 45% recycled glass. The aim is to increase this, subject to the availability of cullets across the industry.
Recyclable glass from the glazing industry is restricted to non-laminated products. However, techniques for recycling laminated glass are being developed.
