Document Q to be implemented in UK building regulations

Document Q is to be implemented in new-build properties. Planning permissions applied from 1/10/2015 will now include higher-security forcible windows—usually ground floor or accessible from ground floor extensions/garage roofs, etc.- as well as doors and access. Document Q will incorporate PAS24 and Secure by Design (SBD). These two standards now specify P1a as a minimum glazing requirement, and this is also applied to all other installations where these standards are specified, not just new builds.

In glass terms, this states that the glazing should have a pane of glass with a minimum security level of P1a. This translates to being used as part of the glazing makeup. Regency Glass uses 6.8mm laminates, P2a, a better burglar-resistant glass than P1a.
